Technip Energies has secured a large Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited covering two processing units at HPCL's Mumbai Refinery in Maharashtra, India.
The award, announced on October 12, 2026, covers an Integrated Hydrocracker and Catalytic Dewaxing unit with a capacity of 550 KTA and a Solvent Deasphalting unit rated at 850 KTA. Both units are part of HPCL's Lube Modernization and Bottom Upgradation project and will be integrated into the operating refinery.
The company classifies a "large" award as one carrying between USD 280 million and USD 560 million in revenue. According to Technip Energies, the order will be booked in the backlog of its Project Delivery segment in the third quarter of 2026.
HPCL's LMBU project is designed to modernize the refinery's production of lube oil base stocks, materials that serve as essential inputs for automotive engine oils and industrial lubricants. Beyond lube production, the project will convert heavier refinery streams into higher-value products, which the company says will improve resource utilization and support the long-term competitiveness of the Mumbai site.
Technip Energies noted that the project will help strengthen India's production capabilities and increase the value drawn from existing refining assets. This comes as India continues investing in the modernization of its refining infrastructure to satisfy rising domestic demand for fuels and specialty petroleum products.
Loïc Chapuis, President of Project Delivery and Services at Technip Energies, said the award reflects the confidence HPCL has placed in the company's EPC delivery capabilities and builds on a partnership between the two firms that spans more than two decades.
He pointed to the company's expertise in refinery modernization and complex project execution, adding that Technip Energies looks forward to delivering the new units, ensuring their integration with existing facilities, and supporting HPCL in its strategic modernization.
Technip Energies positions itself as a global technology and engineering company with leading positions in LNG, hydrogen, ethylene, sustainable chemistry, and CO2 management. It serves markets including energy, energy derivatives, decarbonization, and circularity through two complementary segments: Technology, Products and Services, and Project Delivery.
The group employs more than 18,000 people in 35 countries and reported revenues of USD 8.06 billion in 2025. Its shares trade on Euronext Paris, with American Depositary Receipts available over the counter.
